Hi Reader So there I was, three glasses of Pimms into my sister’s garden party, technically on hosting duties (read: topping up drinks and making sure no one starts a heated debate about parking permits)... They were lounging on a patchy picnic blanket, half a drink in, half a career crisis out. Comparing notes on bosses, workplaces, and the inner monologue of doom that kicks in around 3am. What were they actually saying? “I don’t think I’m doing enough.” “They’re going to realise I have no idea what I’m doing.” “Everyone else just seems... more sorted.” Naturally, I did what any responsible adult with light hostess responsibilities and a meddling instinct would do… I sat straight down in the middle of it with a drink in one hand and a knowing smile in the other. Were they a mess? No. Were they quietly unraveling inside? Yes. Imposter syndrome had clearly RSVPed to the party and brought it's own snacks. So we had a good gab - about fraud feelings, gremlins and second-guessing. (ooo exciting, one has just DMd me on LinkedIn :-)) Did I fix all their worries? No. They were all growing which means the gremlins were out in full force. Classic imposter syndrome: We talked about how your inner critic isn’t a red flag; it’s a neon “Growth In Progress” sign your brain can’t read properly. And then I introduced them to one of my favourite concepts: ✨ Fizziology ✨(The highly scientific, deeply spiritual, gloriously ridiculous art of not losing your sh*t in high-stakes moments.) Fizziology 101You know when you shake a lemonade bottle and then try to open it? Yeah. That’s you before your weekly team meeting. So, when someone puts you on the spot? One of my own biggest career lessons was learning how to calm myself so my energy, ideas and excitement didn't spill out everywhere at any given moment. Fizziology is about releasing just enough pressure so you don’t explode or just as bad...evaporate and then you can contribute in a way that takes others with you. Take 90 seconds. Boom. You’ve just shifted your state. That’s Fizziology. 🎧 Want to go deeper? This week’s podcast is your new emotional support episode: Plus: Listen on all your favourite podcast platforms Spotify Apple Amazon Or if you prefer to watch you can do that on YouTube So,If you’re feeling wobbly, you’re probably doing something brilliant. If your brain’s buzzing, it’s because you’re stepping into something bigger. If you’re spiralling? Take the cap off the lemonade bottle. You’ve got this. P.S. Know someone in a spiral? Forward this. Gremlins hate community. P.P.S. Got your own gremlin quote? Send it to caroline@inspireyourgenius.com. I might just roast it for you live in a future episode. Hey Reader Ever notice how in Star Wars, the best scenes aren’t the peaceful ones? (I was listening to 'Good Bad Billionaire' on BBC Sounds on Saturday about George Lucas and now can't get Star Wars out of my head! ;-)It’s the sparks, the clashes, the tension; that’s where the story moves forward. Same goes for teamwork. Real collaboration isn’t a group hug: it’s friction with purpose. It’s the designer arguing with the analyst, the introvert dropping the game-changer halfway through a...
